Sabina Alkire is currently the Research Writer for the Commission on Human Security. Publications include Valuing Freedoms: Sen's Capability Approach and Poverty Reduction. (Oxford University Press 2002).

Luis Camacho is Professor Emeritus at the University of Costa Rica.

He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy, Catholic University of America and is President of the Costa Rican Philosophical Association. Luis Camacho has been professor of Logic, Philosophy of Science and Philosophy of Technology at the University of Costa Rica and visiting professor in several universities, among them Honduras National University, Denver University, Swarthmore College and Michigan State University. He is author of several books on Logic, the relation between science, technology and development and related topics. Author of many articles published in periodicals in Costa Rica, Mexico, Sweden, Holland, the USA, Argentina, Colombia and Australia.

Nigel Dower is Honorary Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Aberdeen. He joined IDEA in 1987, became Vice-President in 1995 and President in 2002. His research interests are focused on the ethics of development, environment, international relations, and related issues. His publications include World Poverty - Challenge and Response (Sessions 1983), World Ethics: The New Agenda EUP 1998; 2nd edition 2007); and An Introduction to Global Citizenship (EUP 2003); Ethics of War and Peace(Polity 2009)
