Valencia Conference December 2009


The 8th International Conference of the International Development Ethics Association took place in Valencia, Spain, 2-4 December 2009. The specific theme of the conference was:  Ethics in Human Development and Global Justice: Responsibilities of Institutions and Citizens for actions on poverty.


It was organized by: IDEA together with the


Universitat de València, Universitat Jaume I de Castelló, Universidad Politécnica de Valencia and Fundación ÉTNOR.

The conference was deemed  successful and dynamic  with the participation of over 100 participants from all corners of the globe. Philosophers, sociologists, political theorists, other academics, students and development practitioners came together for 3 days to discuss theories and the action of human development with a strong focus on ethics and notions of global justice.

Forthcoming publications of the Journal of Global Ethics and others will publish some of the papers presented at the conference.

A general meeting of IDEA took place during this time of which elections took place for the Executive Board and Board. Jay Drydyk and Asuncion St.Clair will continue in their roles as President and Vice-President respectively.
